Don’t just throw away that old box of papers your grandpa gave you, you might discover handwritten letters, vintage postcards, old newspaper articles or other historical documents. Historically significant pieces of writing and print can be highly valuable to collectors and historians alike.

Look out for coins with minting errors, rare dates, or unique designs. Quarters made before 1965 for example are 90% silver and as such as worth more than their face value of 25 cents. Additionally, a small number of 1965 were minted using old silver blanks in error and these extremely rare coins can fetch tens of thousands of dollars depending on their condition.

Old video games, particularly those from the 80s and 90s, are often valuable to collectors. Popular titles such as Mario as well as classic consoles like Nintendo, Atari, and Sega often command high prices.
